The Night (An Epilogue)
02:15
|
|||
Shadows flitting gently
Dance across my vision
The fires paltry light
Shimmers as it fades
Waiting ever patient
For the warmth of the day
To chase away the darkness
To chase the dark away
Shadows flitting gently
Dance across my vision
The blood of the world
Draining at our feet
Waiting ever patient
For the return of the day

Time, time bequeathed little but took all. In the hallowed halls of the Temple of Eschaton, the union would be remembered. For: those who live… lived for those who lived no more. Time, time takes all.

Rising Sun
04:41
|
|||
Verse One
5 AM, awaken to the day / The vestiges of the night
Fading as its giving way / To a bright rising ball of flame
Speeding waves of death / Come crashing to our shores
Incinerating all the lives / All we love, hate, adore
Chorus
This Searing Light, blinding lethal rays
Melting our eyes, tearing skin from our face
This Rising Sun, brighter than before
Flowering beautiful flames, sends humanity to its grave
Verse Two
For that brief searing moment / light is all we can see
That artificial sun / imprinted deep in our dreams
Standing tall, and alone / in the ruins of my life
There’s nothing here I’m all that’s left / in the wake of the rising sun
Bridge
In searing light we are exposed
For what we are, for what we were
In searing light we are exposed
For what we are for what we were
In searing light we are exposed
For what we never cared to know
In searing light we are exposed
For what we never thought to learn

The flowers fade as they wilt and die; their death, harbingering the beginning of holy Eschaton. The flowers bright, destructive light, forsake the seed of man, forsake the seed of man.

Faithless
06:25
|
|||
Verse One
Alone and forgotten / I stand here beside your grave
A monument to a life / a life so full and bright
Taken from this world / by bright and searing flame
A shining ray of light (and hope) / Snuffed out and buried below
Pre Chorus
So I’m asking you why! And my why echoes back
There is no one here but me, there is no one but me
Chorus
Here I stand
I’m eternally faithless
Broken down
Until my dying day
What is left?
If our lives our wasted
In the end
Only the grave remains
Verse Two
I place this flower / so vibrant a sight
Upon the gray dead stone / I’ve never been so alone
I cry to you, speak to you / but no answer returns
You were taken, taken from me / In this life, in this death, never again will we be
Verse Three
I place this flower / so vibrant a sight
Upon the dead gray stone / a cenotaph to the fallen
Your loss is felt deeper / I’ve lost not only you
But all of humanity / Am I the only one?
- - - - - - - - -
The greatest test of all; the test of faith within one’s own heart. Those forsaken and left to wander alone, abandon they, by God upon his throne. Faithless, they were, Faithless they remain.

Cenotaph
04:10
|
|||
Rising stolid from the earthen mound
A monolith of living memories
We wish to remember, and would rather forget
But remember we must, lest the memories fade to dust
This unbroken pillar, all that is left
Of the uncounted multitude of dead
All of the love, the anger, hate, and fear
Nothing remains but the silent unmoving stone
As the falling rain covers us in ash
We whisper urgent sighs a death knell to our past
As our memories fade, fade away at last
We cower before a silent God,
Faith in nothing, faith in death
That are deeds were useless, useless to the last
So we bow our heads in veneration
Tonight we gather here, here at the Cenotaph
- - - - - - - - - -
The Faithless, they, abandoned as they were, gathered upon the Cenotaph. Reverence for the fallen, the loss of the forsaken ones. They gathered here upon the Cenotaph to grieve and their grief reached the heavens and God turned away for the world had displeased him.

The Remnant Faith
02:13
|
|||
6. |
||||
Upon the fevered dreams of shattered suns the ghosts of summer lay
And as the ashes fall I stand alone in terminal decay
The seasons cry to me, the wind blows cold with empty, hollow sound
The remnants of what was but will not be are coming crashing down
The Earth lays fallow in embrace of dying radiant caress
The seas are solemn and the driftwood disappears among the waves
And as I stand alone, I feel the minutes burn
Another season left to ruin with prayers of forlorn return.
In searing light we are exposed
For what we are, for what we were
In searing light we are exposed
For what we are for what we were
In searing light we are exposed
For what we never cared to know
In searing light we are exposed
For what we never thought to learn
Like phoenix descending from above
Like flowers of flame
Like seasons rewriting the epilogue
Of forbidden names
A pillar of truth on shining wings
Impossibly bright
I care not for what the seasons bring
In the radiant light
And so the Cenotaph was built upon the ruins of their dream
Where bone and faith lay next to tears of penitent machine
The awkward legacies of ash and tepid moments of despair
Forgotten monuments to vanity in sullen disrepair
And as we stand alone, the last of our ill-begotten kind
I see the dreams of summer vanish in the waterfalls of time
The fading daylight casts a glow upon the shadows of the past
And every labored breath I take is one less to my last

Below this hallowed earth
Lies the lost remnants of man
Beneath this stately stone
Lies forever darkness
These monuments to those before
Never to be known again
Beneath this ancient stone
Lies the breadth of human hubris
The emptiness of our actions
The hollowness of our achievements
Beneath these hallowed monuments
Lies
Nothing

This Final Wasteland
13:56
|
|
||
Verse One
These survivors I have found are seemingly deranged
Speaking now in tongues and riddles, a religion unexplained
I sit amongst the living who act as if their dead
Worshipers of chaos, building altars to their dread
Chorus
The remnants of man, a fallen race
Gathered together, in this new distorted faith
Nothing lives, nothing’s left, our world was turned to sand
As we walk hand in hand, Into this, our final wasteland
Verse Two
My tears they fall down my dry and cracking face
As I struggle to survive among the dying and disgraced
Silently now I pray to a God I had forgot
As I slink among the faithful, of a faith in what is not
Chorus
Post-Chorus
In searing light we are exposed
For what we are, for what we were
In searing light we are exposed
For what we never thought to learn
Bridge 1
Huddled together in our dark and dreary masses
Waiting for the sun to rise, the sun we will never see again
The clouds of fallen ash, covering our sunrise dying home
A quiet devils irony, that the very last
Mankind will ever see, was one that we created
Verse Three
Hope, hope is all but gone, in these quickly filling shelters
The vacant eyes of the dead, fixated and unmoving
The constant evil, fear and pain, turning faithless into faith
The faith to thrive in nothingness, when all there is, is anger, pain and hate
- - - - - - - - - -
For a savior had been chosen, to lead the faithful in their wastes. One given to strength, love and reason. The savior that was chosen, the Son of a Dying Season.
